Carol Feeney Artist
Carol Feeney is an Irish Artist from Galway City and is a graduate of Atlantic Technical College, Galway and holds Bachelor of Art Degrees in Fine Art and Design. Carol Feeney grew up in Bowling Green, in the heart of Galway City and now lives in the village of Inverin in the heart of Connemara where she paints out of her garden studio.
Carol Feeney is an artist with a passion for people and for the landscape of the West of Ireland. She paints figurative scenes inspired by family, Connemara local landscapes and seascapes and cityscapes of her beloved Galway. She likes to portray emotion & feelings using colour and paint. Her paintings come from a love of observation and people watching. She is inspired by surroundings, by family and by memories of childhood. Her art shows the strength and weakness within the human being. She loves faces, especially the faces of loved ones, which she creates by mixing techniques (acrylics, oils, dry pastels, watercolours, gouaches, pencils. Carol Feeney paints in an expressionist spontaneous manner using layers of thick and thin paint. She creates vibrant, colourful, atmospheric work.
Carol Feeney often paints en plein air and uses photographic references and sketches to help develop her work.
Carol Feeney’s art is influenced by the works of German expressionist painters including Emil Nolde and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Austrian painter Egon Schiele, Dutch Painter Vincent Van Gogh, Pierre Bonnard and Scottish painter Joan Eardley..
